Who works on weekends and at night?
Most central bank branches close after 17:00 and are closed on weekends. However, bank branches in major shopping malls (Yerevan Mall, Dalma Garden Mall, Rio Mall) are open until 20:00–22:00 and operate on Saturdays and Sundays. Additionally, Fast Bank branches and exchange offices inside SAS and Yerevan City supermarkets operate 24/7.

The problem with "old" dollars
In Armenia, exchange offices may reluctantly accept or charge a commission (1–5%) for older US dollar bills (issued before 2006–2013), as well as worn or marked banknotes. It is highly recommended to bring newer "blue" $100 bills.

Do they charge a commission for exchange?
In 95% of official exchange offices and banks, exchanging cash Rubles, Dollars, or Euros into Drams incurs no hidden fees. You will receive the exact amount shown on the board, but it is best to confirm with the cashier beforehand.

Are passports and client status required?
Any tourist can exchange cash using a passport (which is required for larger amounts starting from 100,000 AMD). However, be prepared that in some banks, the most favorable exchange rate (shown on their website or app) applies exclusively to existing bank customers or via mobile banking, while the branch cash rate for non-clients may slightly differ.
